Dr. Peter Gitau

Founder and President

Dr. Gitau has over 25 years of progressively senior executive level higher education experience in enrollment management, student success, international education, strategic planning and change management. His professional engagements include serving as Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at Washington State University, Spokane, Vice President for Student Services at Butte-Glenn Community College, Vice President for Student Affairs at Utah Technical University and Northern Kentucky University respectfully. In these roles, he has managed and directed enrollment and student success initiatives with enduring success, reshaped student life programs and provided leadership in university strategic planning and reimagination efforts.

A renowned philanthropist, Dr Gitau is also the founder and president of the African International Foundation for Educational Excellence (AIFEE), a non-profit organization with service-learning sites and community development initiatives in sub-Saharan Africa, where he has facilitated the international engagement of hundreds of students, faculty, staff and community members.

Born and raised in Kenya, Dr. Gitau received his bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya. As an international student, he earned a master’s degree in educational administration from Eastern Illinois University, and a doctoral degree in higher education administration from the University of Kansas.

Tom Picklesimer

CRM Specialist

Dedicated to the intersection of technology and education, Tom serves as a Higher Education CRM Administrator with a deep focus on Technolutions Slate. To Tom, Slate isn't just a tool—it's a way to remove barriers for students and create meaningful connections within the community. I find my greatest professional joy in solving the "unsolvable" technical puzzles that ultimately help higher education institutions better serve their students.

Tom has been working in the Technolutions Slate CRM for 10 years and is an expert in the field. He currently serves as the Slate Manager II at the University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Jeffrey Hoyt

Data Analyst Specialist

Dr. Hoyt has over 20 years of senior level management experience in the areas of institutional research and effectiveness and has conducted many research studies and analyses evaluating admissions, college choice, student retention, student academic success, outcomes for student intervention programs, online programs, student and faculty satisfaction with 25 publications in peer-reviewed journals, some of which have won national awards (Mildred B. and Charles A. Wedemeyer Award, Marlowe Froke Award). He is a SQL programmer with experience downloading and evaluating data from information systems, has high level statistical analyses skills, and is highly skilled in developing and analyzing surveys.

He has training and experience in grant writing successfully working with faculty and staff to renew, pursue and obtain multi-million dollar grants for TRIO, Title III, and a grant for Hispanic serving institutions. His ability to tell a story with data and provide convincing evidence to establish need and support for effective interventions makes him an invaluable part of the team.

He has served as Assistant Vice President of Student Success and Assistant Vice Provost of Institutional Effectiveness and Analysis with additional director-level positions in institutional research and assessment. He earned his Bachelors of Psychology from Brigham Young University; and Masters of Public Administration and Doctorate of Educational Leadership & Policy from the University of Utah with honors (Pi Alpha Alpha and Phi Kappa Phi).
